Lisa Lomax is a writer, documentarian and maker. For more than twenty years, she has interviewed thousands of people and crafted powerful, intimate stories across multiple forms: printed matter, documentaries, impact campaigns, community storytelling initiatives, interdisciplinary collaborations and speculative narratives with a social undertow.

She created Room with a View Presents…The Time Machine, an experiential, interdisciplinary project that transformed a coastal home in rural Ireland into a portal through which artists, scientists and local communities could imagine 100 years of climate change. Her ongoing sci-fi documentary series Allergic Reaction uses fieldwork, speculation and worldbuilding to investigate futures that have not happened yet. She also publishes Balloon Teeth, an analog independent press.

Lisa’s earlier documentary work includes deepsouth, which shifted the mainstream media narrative on HIV/AIDS to the rural American South, and On the Streets, an L.A. Times docu-series about homelessness across Southern California that became the newspaper’s most-watched, original video series.

Her work has been featured in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Lancet, NPR and PBS. She has received a Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Journalism Award, a Fulbright Award and a National News Emmy nomination. Lisa was part of the L.A. Times newsroom during its 2016 Pulitzer Prize winning coverage. She was an inaugural Sundance Artist-in-Residence at MIT Media Lab and holds a master's from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.

Much of her earlier work appears under the name Lisa Biagiotti. She lives in Los Angeles with her partner, sculptor Brandon Lomax, and their child.
